Welcome 9th Graders!  This year will be a very challenging year for you!  Together, we can ensure your success at this very important point in your life.  This year we will focusing on character analysis and writing.  Through the literature we read we will develop our own character.   What can we learn from a character's strengths and weaknesses?  We also will be learning a very regimented form of writing.

Before we delve into the semester's reading requirements I like to review specific literary elements:

Theme, Symbolism, Characterization (static vs. dynamic), Conflict (internal vs. external), & Imagery

We will be reading two children's books, "Thank You Mr. Falkner" & "Mr. PEabody's Apples"

After reading and analyzing these texts you will be ready to attack any and all writing assignments that are required for the rest of the year!!!!
